Adult Volunteering
Volunteer and help us to deliver engaging programmes for local young people.
Ajax combines traditional land-based scouting with adventurous water-based activities. No specific skill or experience is required except an interest to support and help develop young people aged 6-18 yrs in the Thames Ditton area.
If you’re over 18, you can join a group of like-minded people and make new friends, try new challenges, get outdoors, and improve your local community.
We have roles to suit all levels of commitment, from support roles ensuring young people are supervised appropriately during activities, through to engaging leadership opportunities.

Here’s some information about how Ajax works:
Scouting is broken down into 4 sections:
- Beavers 6 to 7 years meeting on Tuesday evenings.
- Cubs 8 to 10½ years also meeting on Monday evenings.
- Scouts 10½ to 14 years meeting on Thursday evenings.
- Explorers 15 to 17 years meeting on Wednesday evenings.
Unfortunately, our group is running at capacity, so we do have waiting lists for entry.
Priority is given to those who have family members already in the group, which includes adults who volunteer on a regular basis, please get in touch if you want to know more! We have a waiting list for each section, sorted by age, please ensure you choose the correct section based on the age your child will be at our next intake, see below.- Beavers, age up to 7
- Cubs, age 8 to 10½
- Scouts, age 10½ to 14
- Explorers, age 15 to 17
